House Rules & Guidelines

House Rules and guidelines

This note includes rules and guidelines e.g. access to the internet so please ensure you read in full. We don't like setting rules but they are important for safety and to ensure you and your family and guests have a pleasant and safe stay. It also helps our property management company ensure the Villa is ready on time for the next guests and in the same good condition as hopefully you found it. Reading and understanding the rules should also help ensure your deposit will be returned in full.

1. Persons under 16 - All persons under 16 should be supervised at all times. The swimming pool is in close proximity to the villa which is very convenient but could be very dangerous, especilly for babies and small children. If in any doubt about your willingness to fulfil this obligation this is not the Villa for you.

2. Throws on Couch and chairs – please always use the throws provided on all chairs at all times. Suntan lotion in particular will cause severe irreversable damage.

3. Pool Shower – Please always use the outdoor or indoor showers (if you want a hot one) before entering the pool. Suntan lotion and other cosmetics have a detrimental and easily identifiable impact on the pool system.

4. Pool Hygiene – Never urinate in the pool, please explain this to young children – the system is constantly treating and recycling the same water.

5. Diving Prohibited – The pool is 1.35 meters at the deep end (up to your neck approx. if you are circa. five and half feet)  and only 1.1 meters at the shallow end. Hence diving is not recommended.

6. No Running by the Pool – Although the pool tiles are non-slip when covered in water they can give less traction hence never run by the pool, this should be made clear to all young children.

7. Pool level - Do not fill the pool above the Red Mark on the end of the pool to your right as you walk out the patio doors, otherwise you run a high risk of flooding the control room.

8. Pool Controls - Never open or enter the pool control area which is underground to the left of the pool as you walk out the patio doors.

9. Pool Cover – Always cover the pool at night and during the day particulary from October to April. This will make a very big difference to the temperature and keeps it clean.

10. Pool Cleaning – The Pool will be cleaned once a week. If you are unfortunate enough to experience heavy rain this may introduce additional dirt. A one-off clean can be provided on request. Never attempt to clean the pool yourself but you are welcome to fish-out any insects or debris with the net on the wall.

11. Pool Quality – The pool is scientifically tested once a week by professionals, however if you feel it has too much Chlorine or is not Gin clear please report immediately.

12. Pool Heater – please do not touch the Pool Heater, it is key-locked so you won’t be able to change the settings. Any issues please call as indicated in key contact numbers. Note the pool heater will only be on if you have opted for this optional extra – note it can take a good 24 hours for the pool to reach the target temperature particularly in colder months. As long as you place the cover over the pool at night it should not be necessary to avail of the heater from May to October.

13. Barbeque - Never bring the Barbeque Indoors. Always clean after each use. A supply of coals, lighters and matches should be available at the outset as long as all guests replace what they use.

14. Electronic Gates - The electronic gate is entirely manual i.e. it will not return unless you press the button, never put it on automatic – don’t worry you can’t do this with the remote control.

15. Exit to the road – Until you get used to it we suggest you reverse into the property as getting out in reverse can be difficult as there is a raised area just before the public roads (to stop rain water coming down the drive). The road is extremely quiet but it is difficult to see properly coming out in reverse.

16. Garden - Be careful in the garden it is full of Cacti which do bite! Feel free to walk around it but just be careful not to stand on small plants or the irrigation system. Please do not interfere with any of the plants, but feel free to pick ripe fruit.

17. Automatic Watering (Box outside front door) - Do not interfere with the automatic watering system in any way. If you feel it is not working we would be grateful if you could report it as indicated in key contacts.

18. Hot Water – There are two emersions one for the master bedroom and twin room bathrooms and one for the Kitchen and the other end of the house. They are on at all times but if eight people are using the house either stagger showering or limit the time of each shower to 5 minutes. Remember each end uses different boilers so if your partner does have a prolonged shower you will get hotwater the other end of the house, provided someone has not been there before you.

19. Fridge / Freezer – Please note this is fitted with an alarm so please note if you hear a strange noise. Always ensure you close the fridge and particularly the freezer properly. An iced up Freezer is hard work to clean and may result in some deposit loss.

20. Cleaning – It is the guest’s responsibility to leave the Kitchen as you found it, a clean, empty and odourless fridge, empty freezer (bar ice), clean oven, clean microwave, empty dishwasher, clean toaster, clean hob and work tops with no trace of grease. Please ensure all floors are reasonability clean and you can leave all used beds stripped with the linen left on the bed. Toilets and Showers should be left as you found them.

21. Leftover Food – Other than the condiments (salt, pepper, tabasco etc.) and non-perishables such as rice and lentils, only leave items which have not been opened and are well in date. Never leave perishable food at all. All items not meeting the above criteria should be binned or taken with you.

22. Rubbish – Given the warm climate we encouraged you to dispose of rubbish on a daily basis and certainly at the end of your stay. You will pass a public bin each time you head towards the main road going through Villaverde, hence minimal inconvenience. In Fuerteventura there is no concept of bin collection from each house. You simply bring your rubbish to the central area as you need to. A much better system!

23. Breakages – please report all breakages, for minor items such as glasses please endeavour to replace with same or superior quality.

24. Crockery, Cutlery – please never remove from the property.

25. Roof – Although the roof is ideal for a roof terrace as yet we have not adapted it for use as such – never attempt to gain access to the roof top.

26. Toilets – please do not put anything down the toilet bar toilet paper and what comes out of your body. Every toilet is equipped with toilet bushes please use them.

27. Windows – be careful with the windows in the master bedroom if opening them as they do not fully open due to blinds being to big – we are trying to get this resolved so apologies for the inconvenience. In hot weather keep all windows closed and blinds drawn particularly in the master bedroom and the Twin Room from around 1400.

28. Air-Conditioning – If you have elected to have Air-Conditioning in the central living area please never use in conjunction with open doors and windows.

29. Television and Sound – Please do not alter the settings on the TV and sound system or remote controls. Note there are three remote controls, the largest controls the satalite channels, the middle one is for the TV and the smallest one the sound. Note you can use the sound bar to broadcast from your phone or PC - keep pressing the source button on the smallest remote control till you see BT and then go to \bluetooth section of your devise and select AV Samsung Sound, it should start broadcasting immediately.

30. Internet / WIFI -  The password for the internet is docepalmeras3698. Please ensure you supervise access by minors as there are no parental controls.

31. Out of bounds – We have tried to give you the full use of the property but the following areas are locked or out of bounds due to safety reasons and the need for the owners belongings to be stored. The areas are; the Garden Shed, The electric’s room on your right as you go in the main door, the far left of the very large cupboard in the master suite and the far left of the cupboard in the Twin Room where the linen is kept.

32. Change of Bed Linen – this is provided free of charge to guests staying two weeks or more – the change will be once a week or as a close as possible to that.

33. Feedback – It is difficult to cater for all tastes and standards and we certainly hope you find this property meets your expectations, however if you have any feedback please send directly to us at adrienneolden@aol.com as soon as the offending matter is identified and we will endeavour to resolve immediately or note for future reference.
